As part of the nationwide environmental initiative "Taza Qazaqstan", work on identifying and eliminating unauthorized landfills is carried out on an ongoing basis in the Ulytau Region.
During a routine raid conducted by specialists of the Department of Ecology of the Ulytau Region in the city of Zhezkazgan, 20 sites of unauthorized disposal of household and construction waste were identified. Based on the inspection results, an official letter was sent to the Akimat of Zhezkazgan regarding the need to take measures for their elimination.
To date, 16 out of 20 identified landfills have been eliminated (80%), and the collected waste has been transported to a specialized landfill. Work on the elimination of the remaining sites continues and is monitored by the Department of Ecology.
In total, since the beginning of 2026, 99 unauthorized landfills have been identified in the Ulytau Region, 93 of which have been eliminated, accounting for 93% of the total number.
Consistent work on identifying and eliminating unauthorized landfills contributes to improving the sanitary condition of settlements, preserving a favorable environment, and fostering the environmental culture of the population. Environmental cleanliness begins with individual responsibility. Compliance with simple rules of waste management is every resident's contribution to preserving nature and improving their home region.
